Each week I'm putting up one of the best performances from my latest gig or Unlit so that you don't miss out even if you didn't make it down...
This weeks offering is:
Jont - Lucky Leaf Falls - Balcony Demo
i set off on an adventure recently, hoping to take my music round the world, play in the street, in people's kitchens, on stage, everywhere, and see what it brought me. this new song has already brought me several new friends....this is for them and for you, i hope you like it....i think there is a bit of a glitch in chorus two and its a very lo fi demo but hopefully you will get the idea.....thankyou to all of you who have sung along so far and been so generous to me on this journey so far....

Jont - Drink Up - video by Lee Lester
To mark the release of the album Set It Free, my friend Lee (the other half of Unlit Records) made this video with footage he found of me hanging out with my friends in LA circa 2004, and of me and my friends in London recording the album, circa november 2008. Put to "Drink Up", a song i wrote in that room in LA, it's a song - i think - about friendship, about aspiration, about not waiting to be happy. Check it out...

Jont - All My Life - video by Simon Ratigan
Here is the incredible music video made by my friend, the director Simon Ratigan for All My Life. It is made from 100,000 photos taken of people Simon met wandering through the desert and in the Los Angeles area and then rendered together to make a moving image. The use of a stills camera means it was incredibly painstaking to make but the visual result is quite extraordinary. Hope you like it.

Jont - Don't Waste All Your Tears - In Memory of Nick
On 2008's summer Unlit tour, we passed by my friend Johnnie Walkers house. He invited us in and we played a tribute gig for his friends son, Nick, who had tragically died a couple of weeks before. This was one of the songs I played at that gig. We were astounded by the grace with which his parents were dealing with their tragic loss. It turned out to be a very beautiful and inspiring evening.

Jont - Can't turn the sea off - music video by mick paulusma
Ok so forgive the hair (i'd had the idea to dye it blue, then when it washed out it went this horrible greeny blonde colour you see before you), but the vid is cool. Even forgive the song if you like, but the vid...well its fun and my idea was that we'd shoot it only on the video capability of a canon powershot sd200 stills camera (mine) and the video capability of Mick's phone. with the last shot of the video mick dropped my camera. or at least that became the last shot of the video cos we couldn't do any more after that. obviously hats off to bob and sub.homesick blues....but more hats off to mick paulusma really...he has a fine touch with the editing....which he is now bringing to bear on the first feature he is directing this summer in Canada....it is called Clearlake... Jont - Exile Song - by jont and andrei codrescu, home vid
As part of this february in 2006 trying to write 14 songs in the month, I got in contact with a bunch of different writers, musicians and poets. Andrei Codrescu, the respected American man of letters, novelist and poet sent me a sheaf of poems he had written in the wake of the New Orleans Disaster. This one fell beautifully in to song. had to change the words a bit, make some things a little clearer, as the addition of melody allows, but he liked it enough to let me put it up on my site.

Also my pal and genius songwriter derek meins came down.
