Well hello there me hearties! Thanks to the generosity of the spiritually effervescent, ground-breaking and need i add legendary singer songwriter MICHELLE SHOCKED, I shall be going out on tour in the first week of November, supporting her and playing 8 shows in a variety of venues around the UK. I would love it if you would come and support me supporting her....so check out the dates on my Myspace page and book your tickets!
On the tour I will be organising after-show Unlits in the house of people on my or her mailing list that write to me and want to put such a thing on in their house...Michelle probably won't come to them, but I will and I think her bass player is apparently a really good songwriter and he may come along with whatever artists you would like to invite...I'm thinking they will be pretty laid-back affairs....and probably running from 11.30am til 1 or 2am? Maybe a little ambitious for early in the week but perhaps for some of the shows later in the week?....anyway, if it sounds interesting to you, email me at jont@jontnet.com and we can try to sort something out.
Other than that the wonderful Dermot O'leary, who has been kind enough to have me on his radio 2 show twice in the last couple of years, played "Enjoy The Good Times" from my forthcoming album "Lovers and were angels" on his show last saturday. How cool! I was excited as I hadn't even released anything as a single yet and wasn't expecting to be played at all....so he must like it! You can here it by clicking here and scrolling to 51 minutes in. Preparations are underway for putting out the album (finally) which i finished at the beginning of the summer. Times are tough, so I'm not sure on what scale the record is going to be released initially but I have every confidence that in 20 or 30 years it will be re-released in a deluxe addition alongside all of my albums and gain storming reviews when Q and Uncut do a re-appraisal of my Oeuvre.... Until then I WILL be selling it on tour with Michelle, and thereafter through the Jont shop...
Last but definitely not least, The Unlit Stage outside the back of Truman Brewery has been going amazingly well! Yes, I was pretty scared getting up in front of hundreds of people eating their lunch with just my old acoustic between me and miserable embarassment....but it has turned out to be a great venue....we've had lovely performances in the last couple of weeks from Vashti Anna, Hadar Manor, Greg Hall, Ed Sheeran, Emit Bloch, The Mighty Roars, Fallen Trees and the weather has been GORGEOUS. We will be there next week too (if its not pissing down...basically as long as there's not rubbish weather we'll be there) and I will be joined by Polly Paulusma, Sam Semple, Erin Kleh, Red Hot Gypsy Fever and various others who've come down in the last few weeks and want to come back!
