Charlie Winston Free Show! Paris Unlit Report! Unlit Videos! Album Samples!

I went to La Cigale in Paris the other night and saw my old friend Charlie Winston wow a crowd of 1500, had them on their feet, chanting, singing, screaming.....he was INCREDIBLE! It was one of the most amazing performances I have ever seen in my life, up there alongside springsteen in '85 and neil young in '09.......So....having just enjoyed prodigious success all over france where all over the country he is literally greeted like some sort of hero when he is recognised in the street, he has the dubious honour of returning to his homeland where like all good prophets, people don't know his stuff much. Meanwhile - yes I was in paris, did an Unlit there in a photo studio on the top of a hill in the 20th Arondissement. Charlie was there, as was his Real World label mate Dabi Toure, the lovely Bent from Das-Pop (who plays piano on all of "Supernatural"), Medi of Medi and The Medicine Show and several other musicians making up a bill of about 8 artists (including Charlie's dad Jeff!). Everyone played one song each and the atmostphere was awesome....we had a break.....then spontaneously everyone started playing again, just one song each again.....the whole thing started to run itself, which was fine with me....I just handed round Speculoos (my new favourite biscuit) and Strawberries and occasionally was even allowed to play a song myself! ha ha....check out the photos here...
The whole thing continued til about 4 or 5, when, with the sun coming up we got cabs home......a little bit like the Unlit we did at Geoff's just by London Fields.....check out the clips below to feel the vibe of where Unlit is at at the moment.....and see the ludicrous sort of outfits some clowns think they can get away with.....really......plus check out the lovely Icelandic superstar Hafdis Huld performing her new single "Kongulo".
